New GP Partner

Congratulations to Dr Steve Rohan on joining Two Rivers Medical Partnership as a new GP partner.

We feel very fortunate and excited to announce that Dr Rohan has recently become a GP partner with us and leads our sixth pod/mini team in the practice. Steve completed his GP training with us over the last few years and is an excellent GP as a lot of our patients and our team are already aware.

All the GPs here specialise in “generalism” which means we are all trained to see people with a whole variety of issues. Each pod contains a lead GP like Dr Rohan as well as either another GP, GPs in their training and advanced nurse practitioners. It is a model we have successfully developed and evolved over the last ten years.

This model is one that prioritises continuity of care valued both by our clinicians as well as our patients (the old fashioned family doctor model). This model helps keep each pod list smaller so patients can access us more easily.

Despite its successes we are all still working under tremendous pressure. We would like to remind everyone that there are some great innovations locally like the pharmacy first initiative where pharmacists have been trained to see patients with more minor issues like urine infections, sore throats, sinus infections, earaches, shingles and mild skin infections which helps reduce the pressure on our teams here. We would encourage people to continue to make best use of this service, especially over the busier winter months. We have had similar successes within the practice with our physio first team who have already helped many patients with various joint aches and problems and continue to do so.

We thank you for your continued support and wish everyone a happy and healthy new year!
